Project 26: National Park Badge Hunting
Firstly – shout out to everyone at Letter Society for having me as this month’s guest designer. I’ve been following this project for a while and I’m very excited to become a part of it.
July’s prompt was an interesting creative challenge for me - I’m by no means an outdoorsy guy. I’m allergic to anything that grows, and my vacation days are typically spent exploring more urban landscapes than natural ones. Instead of glorifying a place I’ve never visited, I decided to create some hypothetical National Parks that resonated with people a bit more like me. I’ve defined this target market as The Glamping Millennial.
The Glamping Millennial appreciates the beauty of nature, but not at the expense of their health or social media accounts. Tangentially, they have knowledge and appreciation for the musical stylings of TLC.
Overall, I’ve had a blast putting these badges together. I played to my strengths – highlighting flat design, keeping the typography simple, and harnessing both illustration and metaphor.
Thanks again for the opportunity to play ;)
xoxo
